We are a cooking club dedicated to the preservation of the art of Dutch oven cooking. Our members come from all corners of Mississippi, and we are constantly recruiting new ones! We usually try to schedule a "Dutch Oven Gathering (D.O.G.)" at least once a month, and the gatherings are held in various state parks and campgrounds around the state. Any member can suggest a location for a D.O.G., so if you know of a great place to camp that no one else knows about, tell us!!! We usually discuss the details of future D.O.G.s on our
forum, for example: campground info., new products that someone might bring to show off, and weekend menus (so we don't end up with 10 different kinds of soups with no meats or vegetables).
The majority of our members do own RVs or camping trailers, but they are definitely NOT required! If you become a member and don't own an RV, most parks offer cabins, or you can just show up with your cooking equipment for the day! If you don't own any cooking equipment but would still like to attend a D.O.G., we do ask that you bring an item or two to contribute to the meal (paper products, plastic utensils, tea, salad, breads, etc.). We understand that camping is not for everyone, but eating delicious food cooked in a Dutch oven is!
We are a family friendly club, so don't hesitate to bring children and/or grandchildren along! More than likely, there will be other children and teenagers there also. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us. Hope to see you at the next D.O.G.!
